(And It Is Loaded)
The Pretty Petty Planner has entered the chat, clipboard in hand and patience already on low.
Let us establish this clearly. It should never take six months to receive wedding photos; not under normal circumstances, not during “busy season., not because Mercury is in retrograde and your Lightroom presets need a minute.
Six months is not a turnaround time. It is a full pregnancy.
By that point:
The dress has been boxed, sealed, and emotionally retired
The bouquet has entered its science-fair era
The groom no longer remembers his exact vows
Someone’s aunt has already asked if the wedding actually happened
Yes, editing takes time.
Yes, quality matters.
And yes, artistry deserves respect.
Professionalism requires structure.
If the leaves have changed, two holidays have passed, and the couple has had time to update their mailing address and file taxes, we have officially crossed out of post-production and into historical research.
Here is the part that tends to get skipped.
Silence is not a workflow.
“I’ll update you soon” is not a delivery date.
A professional wedding photography experience should include:
Clear, written turnaround timelines (industry standard is typically 4–6 weeks, sometimes slightly longer for peak season)
Sneak peeks delivered within a reasonable window
Consistent communication that does not leave couples refreshing their inbox like it owes them money
This is exactly why planners read contracts line by line, ask the uncomfortable questions, and advocate for couples even after the wedding ends. The job does not stop when the dance floor closes. It stops when the deliverables are delivered.
Wedding Planners protect the couple’s experience after the confetti settles. We do not argue. We do not chase. We plan, we protect, and we politely side-eye foolishness while maintaining professionalism.
If this post made you uncomfortable, it was not written for you.
If it made you nod aggressively, save it and send it to someone who is still waiting on photos from last summer.
Memories should age beautifully.
Not mysteriously.
Signed,
The Pretty Petty Planner
