Pull up a chair, Sis, because this is one of those 'nobody warned me conversations" that saves marriages, honeymoons, and emotional sanity.
Mother Nature is undefeated. She does not care about lace, candles, rose petals, or your hotel suite with the ocean view. She will arrive unannounced, overdressed, and unapologetic. Ask any seasoned planner. Including me.
If you are blessed with a predictable cycle that shows up like a polite calendar reminder, congratulations. Flex responsibly. If medication keeps things regulated, even better but if your body operates on a freestyle schedule and enjoys surprise appearances, then we need to talk strategy before you lock in a wedding date and start printing invitations.
From the desk of a professional event planner and a woman who had to wait four whole days before Marvin Gaye could even clear his throat, hear me clearly: DO NOT select a wedding date without tracking your cycle. Period. Pun intended and fully supported.
The Pretty Petty PSA (Because Love Deserves Planning Too)
Track before you commit. Download a cycle tracking app and review patterns for several months. Data does not lie, even when Aunt Flo does.
Consult a medical professional. A gynecologist can discuss safe, temporary options for managing timing. This is healthcare, not gossip.
Reduce stress proactively. Wedding stress can trigger early visits. This is science, not superstition. Hiring a seasoned planner helps stabilize timelines and hormones alike.
Pack like a professional. Bridal emergency kits exist for a reason. Weather, emotions, and uteruses all change their minds.
Communicate like adults. Your first honeymoon apology should not be about delayed festivities. Have the conversation early. Trust me, he might already have your cycle saved in his phone anyway.
Romance is beautiful. Preparation is powerful and peace on your honeymoon is priceless!
